DISABILITY ADVOCACY SERVICES

Who is disability employment advocacy for?

We know sometimes it can be difficult to get your voice heard and when it’s an issue connected to disability in the workplace, it can be worrying and stressful.

That’s where we come in.

The Centre for Resolution’s independent advocacy service is here for those in employment who have a disability. We can also work alongside you, your colleagues and management to find solutions, ultimately improving working relationships. We make sure you know your rights, understand your options and help you get your voice heard by giving you the correct information and support. Our service is tailor made, so you decide how we work together.

How can our disability employment advocacy help?

Advocacy at its core aims to ensure that people with disabilities are able to:
  • Have their views and wishes genuinely considered when in the workplace
  • Be treated fairly
  • Defend and safeguard their rights
  • Help them gain access to information
  • Have their voice heard on issues such as equality, reasonable adjustments, sickness / absence, returning to work
An advocate might attend a meeting / interview in a supportive role or write letters on your behalf.

Employers, colleagues and management can all be supportive and helpful however they may not understand how your disability effects you, the best way to support you or the solutions that are available. An independent advocate will represent your wishes without judging you or giving you their personal opinion.
